Michael Myers has escaped in Halloween: The Game, and he is roaming the streets of Haddonfield. With this nightmarish boogeyman stalking the streets, you are required to rescue as many civilians as you can.
However, helping everyone escape is much easier said than done, as Michael is a formidable foe who doesn't go down easy. Luckily, as you play the game, you can unlock perks that will make survival much easier.
Of course, with there being various perk cards to choose from, it means that some are better than others, and will help your civilians escape Michael's reign of terror much more easily.
10 Wound Mender
Staying Alive
Michael Myers is a strong killer. A few hits from him will leave you with little health. I have been in plenty of matches where I have been low on health, and unable to find a healing item.
With first aid kits and health spray being fairly scarce, you will want to make the most out of the ones you find. That is why Wound Mender is an important perk.
It increases the amount you are healed by all healing items by a specific percentage based on the card's rarity. This is extremely useful when trying to stay alive, as it doesn't take much for Michael to put an end to you, especially if you get trapped in a house with him.
9 Knockout
Stay Down, Michael
There are two ways to defeat Michael in the Halloween game. First, you can help civilians escape, and then proceed to escape yourself. This will earn you enough points to gain the victory.
The second way is to put an end to Michael's plans by getting him arrested. Arresting Michael isn't easy, and it requires you to knock him down. Unfortunately, Michael gets up pretty quickly.
The Knockout perk makes it so Michael stays down longer. This is great for trying to get him arrested, but it is also very useful when trying to escape from him. If you manage to knock him down, he will stay down longer, and you can run away, escaping his grasp, and giving you a greater chance at surviving.
8 Trespasser
Get Inside
One of the most annoying things in Halloween: The Game is when you are trying to save someone, but their house is locked, and you can't get inside. If you don't have a weapon that will allow you to break the door down, you basically can't do anything.
Well, one civilian has the ability to pick locks, but that is only one civilian. Luckily, you can take the Trespasser perk to gain the same ability. This perk gives you a short interaction with locked doors, allowing you to open them.
This is a fantastic perk to have, and one that will speed up your ability to find civilians, making it more likely that you will rescue someone from Michael's reign of terror.
7 Exit Strategy
Find Your Way Out
One of the biggest parts of Halloween: The Game is finding an escape route to flee from Michael and help other civilians escape. There are typically multiple escape routes on a map, with some of them being cars, gates, and even storm cellars.
Whenever you get close to one of these escape routes, the game will highlight it. The escape route will also be added as an objective on the screen. This way, you know what items you need to get to unlock the route.
However, sometimes you can spend a while searching for these escape routes, which is why it is nice to have the Exit Strategy perk, as it increases the range you can discover these routes, making them easier to find.
6 Solid Foundation
For Those Who Fight Back
Michael hits hard. Whenever he swings his knife, it will throw your character off balance, and will sometimes knock you down. This can be a bit unforgiving, and if you aren't prepared, it can lead to your character's death.
The Solid Foundation perk is great for those who want to fight back against Michael and stand more of a chance in close-quarter combat. It increases your poise, allowing you to stay standing, and not get knocked around as much in a fight.
Of course, you will still need to maintain your health, but at least you won't be thrown on your butt while trying to fend off Michael, allowing you to potentially knock him down and escape.
5 Stubborn
Keep On Moving
As you progress through a match, and you have a few run-ins with Michael, you may find yourself beaten and bruised. Well, you may actually find yourself cut up and stabbed repeatedly, but it's basically the same thing.
When you are damaged, you end up limping as you run, slowing you down, and making it easier for Michael to catch you. This is rough, and if you don't have healing items, it is even worse.
This is why you should always have the Stubborn perk equipped, as it allows you to move faster when you are wounded, making it much easier to escape Michael even when you are wounded.
4 Unwinded
Marathon Training
Stamina plays a big part in Halloween: The Game. Whenever you run, you are consuming stamina, and it is very easy to lose track of how much stamina you are using until you are out of it.
At that point, you need to take a breather and wait for your stamina to return. Wouldn't it be better if you just had more stamina so you didn't need to worry about it running out?
The Unwinded perk doesn't give you more stamina, but it does make all of your actions cost less stamina, making your limited stamina bar last much longer, and making stamina management less of a hassle.
3 Unphased
Be Less Fearful
With Halloween: The Game being a horror title, it isn't surprising that fear plays a big part in the game. Fear affects much of what your character does. When they are running, it can cause them to stumble and trip, and it makes performing skill checks more difficult.
Along with this, it makes it more difficult to escape from Michael's grasp when he catches you. This is why you need to have the Unphased perk.
This perk reduces your fear gains, allowing your character to more easily perform actions without as much fear built up in them. There is no doubt that this perk card will make your time in each match much easier.
2 Sixth Sense
Hear Michael's Breathing
Rachel has an interesting ability that allows her to hear Michael breathing whenever he is using his Shape Jump ability. This lets her know whenever he is nearby, and it can be a real lifesaver.
This trait is also available to everyone else in the form of the Sixth Sense perk card. It allows you to hear Michael's breathing while he is in Shape Jump up to varying distances depending on the card's rarity.
When you know Michael is nearby, it lets you know to be more cautious, as he could appear at any moment. Under normal circumstances, you can't hear him, making his movements feel more surprising, but when you know he is coming, it is a different game.
1 Slippery
Escape Michael's Grasp
By far the most useful perk, in my opinion, is Slippery. Michael is able to kill you using two methods. First, he can perform standard attacks, which will reduce you health and eventually kill you.
Second, he can grab you, and if he performs a takedown fast enough, or is near a special takedown, he will kill you instantly. Luckily, you can escape this by completing a struggle minigame or by using a smaller weapon like a pocket knife.
If you don't have a pocket knife or ice pick, you will be forced to play the minigame. The Slippery perk makes the minigame significantly easier, increasing your chances of escape, making it the best perk to have on your character, as it will also negate some of the fear buildup that normally makes the minigame more difficult.
